EMDR THERAPY
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. When something overwhelming happens, the brain may not fully process it, leaving those experiences feeling “stuck” and easily triggered in the present.
EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess these memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. Through guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements), EMDR supports the brain’s natural ability to heal, allowing past experiences to feel more resolved and less intrusive.
At Tangled Roots, EMDR is offered as a thoughtful and attuned process, creating space for deep healing while honoring your pace, readiness, and sense of safety.
HOW THERAPY CAN HELP
EMDR therapy helps reduce the emotional impact of past experiences and supports lasting change in how you feel, think, and respond. Together, we may work to:
Process trauma and distressing memories
Reduce anxiety, triggers, and emotional reactivity
Shift negative beliefs about yourself (e.g., “I’m not safe,” “I’m not enough”)
Improve emotional regulation and nervous system balance
Decrease symptoms of PTSD and past-related distress
Build a stronger sense of safety, resilience, and self-trust
Our goal is to help you move from feeling stuck in the past to feeling more present, grounded, and in control of your life.
