INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS) THERAPY
Sometimes it can feel like different parts of you are pulling in different directions. One part may want connection while another wants to pull away. One part may strive for perfection while another feels exhausted. You may understand logically that you’re safe or worthy, while another part of you still carries fear, shame, anger, or hurt.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that helps you understand these different “parts” of yourself with curiosity rather than judgment. Instead of viewing certain thoughts, emotions, or behaviors as something that needs to be eliminated, IFS explores how these parts may have developed to protect you or help you navigate difficult experiences.
At Tangled Roots, IFS allows us to gently explore what is happening beneath the surface while helping you build a more compassionate and connected relationship with yourself.
HOW THERAPY CAN HELP
Together, we may work to:
Identify and understand different parts of yourself
Explore protective patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, avoidance, or self-criticism
Understand the experiences beneath strong emotional reactions
Develop greater compassion toward parts of yourself you may have judged or rejected
Process experiences that continue to influence your present
Reduce internal conflict and emotional overwhelm
Strengthen self-awareness, confidence, and trust in yourself
Create more space to respond intentionally rather than react automatically
Our goal is not to get rid of parts of you; it’s to help you understand what they have been carrying, create space for healing, and develop a more compassionate relationship with your whole self.
