Meet the Owners: The Heart Behind Tangled Roots
When we first envisioned Tangled Roots, we kept coming back to one simple question:
“What would it look like to create the kind of therapy practice we would want our own loved ones to walk into?”
The answer became Tangled Roots, a place where people feel genuinely welcomed, deeply respected, and supported by clinicians who believe healing happens through authentic human connection.
We're Kaila and Shannon, the founders and owners of Tangled Roots, and we're honored to share a little about ourselves and why this practice means so much to us.
Although our backgrounds and specialties are different, we share the same philosophy: every person deserves to be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect. We believe therapy is not about "fixing" people, it's about helping individuals understand themselves, process life's challenges, and build the tools they need to create meaningful change.
Together, we've seen how difficult it can be to find mental health care that feels both clinically excellent and genuinely personal. Too often, people feel like just another appointment on the schedule. We wanted to create something different.
At Tangled Roots, relationships come first.
We've intentionally built a practice where clients are treated as whole people, not diagnoses. Where clinicians are encouraged to continue learning and growing. Where warmth and professionalism coexist. And where every decision is made with the well-being of our clients and community in mind.
Meet Kaila
As the owner and founder of Tangled Roots, one of Kaila's greatest passions is building a practice where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey, while also creating a workplace where clinicians feel valued, cared for, and supported. She believes that when therapists have the resources, encouragement, and community they need to thrive, they are better equipped to provide exceptional, compassionate care to the individuals and families they serve.
Kaila is passionate about helping children, adolescents and adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. She has a special interest in working with survivors of trauma and believes healing begins when people feel safe enough to explore their stories without fear of judgment.
Her approach blends evidence-based practices with genuine compassion, helping clients better understand themselves while building resilience and confidence. Kaila values creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel empowered, supported, and accepted exactly as they are.
Meet Shannon
As the co-owner and founder of Tangled Roots, Shannon shares the vision of creating a practice rooted in compassion, authenticity, and meaningful connection. She is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive practice where both clients and clinicians feel respected, supported, and encouraged to grow.
Shannon works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, burnout, chronic illness, and relationship concerns. She is passionate about helping clients reconnect with themselves, develop self-compassion, and move away from patterns that no longer serve them.
Known for her calm, authentic, and thoughtful presence, Shannon creates a space where clients can explore difficult emotions while feeling supported every step of the way. She believes meaningful change happens through collaboration, curiosity, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
Looking Ahead
Tangled Roots is more than a therapy practice, it's a community built on the belief that healing is possible and that no one should have to navigate life's challenges alone.
Whether you're considering therapy for the first time, returning after time away, or searching for the right clinician for yourself or a loved one, we're grateful you've found us.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We look forward to welcoming you to Tangled Roots and being part of your journey.
