OCD THERAPY

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is more than just being “particular” or liking things a certain way. It involves persistent, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) that feel difficult to control.

You may experience unwanted thoughts, images, or urges that create anxiety or distress, followed by behaviors or mental checking meant to reduce that discomfort. These patterns can feel exhausting, confusing, and at times isolating, especially when the thoughts don’t reflect who you are or what you value.

OCD can show up in many forms, including fears around contamination, harm, relationships, intrusive thoughts, or a need for certainty and control.

At Tangled Roots, we understand that OCD is not a choice, and it is not a reflection of your character. We offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to understand these patterns and begin the process of change.

HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

Therapy for OCD focuses on helping you break the cycle between intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, while building tolerance for uncertainty and distress. Together, we may work to:

  • Understand the cycle of obsessions and compulsions

  • Reduce reliance on rituals, avoidance, or reassurance-seeking

  • Build tolerance for uncertainty and discomfort

  • Learn tools to respond differently to intrusive thoughts

  • Decrease anxiety and improve daily functioning

  • Strengthen a sense of control, confidence, and self-trust

Our goal is to help you feel less controlled by OCD, so you can move through your life with greater freedom, flexibility, and peace of mind.
