SEXUAL VIOLENCE THERAPY
Experiences of sexual violence can have a lasting impact on how you feel in your body, your relationships, and your sense of safety in the world. These experiences can include sexual assault, abuse, harassment, coercion, or any situation where boundaries were crossed or consent was not respected.
The impact of these experiences can look different for everyone. You may experience anxiety, flashbacks, difficulty trusting others, disconnection from your body, shame, or feeling constantly on edge. For some, these responses are immediate; for others, they may surface over time.
We support both adult survivors and children/teens who have experienced sexual violence, recognizing that healing looks different across developmental stages. For younger individuals, this may include supporting emotional expression, safety, and trust, while also working closely with caregivers when appropriate. For adults, this may involve processing past experiences, rebuilding connection to self, and navigating the impact on relationships and identity.
At Tangled Roots, we offer a space grounded in safety, consent, and respect. You are never expected to share more than you’re ready for. Your boundaries are honored, your experiences are validated, and your healing process is always at your pace.
HOW THERAPY CAN HELP
Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to process your experiences and begin to reconnect with yourself in a way that feels steady and empowering. Together, we may work to:
Process trauma and reduce the emotional impact of past experiences
Rebuild a sense of safety within your body and environment
Address feelings of shame, guilt, or self-blame
Reduce anxiety, hypervigilance, or trauma-related symptoms
Strengthen boundaries and sense of personal control
Support children and teens in expressing emotions and rebuilding trust
Reconnect with your body, identity, and sense of self
Our goal is to support you in feeling safer, more grounded, and more in control, so that healing can happen in a way that feels respectful, empowering, and aligned with you.
